Strange Bedfellows

Sometimes, when it's cold, taxonomy doesn't matter. I found this ground beetle (Pterostichus sp.) and slug (Lehmannia valentiana) huddled together under a stepping-stone. A couple of ground worms were also burrowed nearby.
