Battle Scars: Five-legged Wolf Spider

An unusual Wolf Spider (family Lycosidae) crossed my path the other night: he had only 5 legs! But in the world of arachnids, having some legs is better than having none. He still seemed quite capable of hunting. How he lost the other legs, I don't know, as he doesn't like to talk about it. My theory is, some predator such as a bird picked him up but got more than it bargained for!

He kept sticking that leg in his mouth, probably grooming a little.

Now, that's a death stare!
