Mating Slugs: Courtship - Type B

Type B: Courtship in Lehmannia valentiana can also occur between two slugs that did not engage in the original precourtship together. That is, a couple began courtship (trail following) but one partner stopped and started to pursue another slug. To illustrate what I mean, here are a few photos of Couple 9:

At first I focused on these two...
Then I realized that there was a third slug following the trail of the second.
The first follower turned off, leaving the second to follow the leader.
But that slug decided not to pursue the leader either and turned off in the same direction as the first follower.
Then precourtship began anew between the two followers, as they investigated each other with their cephalic tentacles.
One slug became the leader, and trail following commenced, but in an abbreviated form, for the journey lasted only a few inches up and around the side of the railing post.

As you can see, from the beginning of precourtship between the two followers, the process followed the same pattern as Type A.
