The really cool stink bug would have to be just above the ground, on one of the few plants still being pollinated! Alas, there was nothing for it. I had to go in. In the end both I and the stink bug were covered in yellow dust, although I had the added joy of having my leg scratched up by the fallen leaves. Nevertheless, the suffering was worth it, as I captured some amazing pictures of this unique insect. So, without further ado, here is Proxys punctulatus, the Black Stink Bug (admittedly a lot less black in these photos). Features to note: striped antennae & legs, pointed ends of pronotum, orange (originally white) spot at base of scutellum, and long proboscis.
