Black Stink Bug

The really cool stink bug would have to be just above the ground, on one of the few plants still being pollinated! Alas, there was nothing for it. I had to go in. In the end both I and the stink bug were covered in yellow dust, although I had the added joy of having my leg scratched up by the fallen leaves. Nevertheless, the suffering was worth it, as I captured some amazing pictures of this unique insect. So, without further ado, here is Proxys punctulatus, the Black Stink Bug (admittedly a lot less black in these photos). Features to note: striped antennae & legs, pointed ends of pronotum, orange (originally white) spot at base of scutellum, and long proboscis.
