While making the rounds yesterday, I was overjoyed to have discovered a clutch of eggs, laid by
Lehmannia valentiana, the species of slug that I've been studying for a while now.
|
I didn't even notice the eggs until I analyzed the photos on my computer. They're so small and clear in the sunlight that it's easy to miss them if you're not looking for eggs. |
|
You see there's another small group near the slug's tail. I don't know whether these all belong to the same clutch or to two separate ones, so I'm just grouping them together for now. |
Unfortunately they've become more scattered since yesterday and are no longer in that nice, neat pile:
Fortunately none of the eggs appears to be damaged. Scattering is bound to happen when lifting up the covering. I will keep checking them daily to see when and if they hatch.
