A Hungry Armyworm

I found another Fall Armyworm (Spodoptera frugiperda) a few weeks ago. Like all its fellows, it was busily looking for food. This one, though, sported a neat apple-green color.

For a while the caterpillar crawled along the sidewalk, but the place was pretty barren.

A piece of wood...not very delicious.
When it reached the foot of our front steps, it started hunting around again, burrowing for any morsel that might be in the brush or in the cracks in the cement.

Nothing...
Anything in here?
Is this all you got: dried grass?
*sigh*
