Yesterday I found a moth that bears a resemblance to
the one I posted about earlier. I believe they both may belong to the family
Noctuidae (Owlet Moths), maybe subfamily
Noctuinae (Cutworm or Dart Moths)? The moth has furry (labial?) palps, dark wings with light patches on the ends similar in shape to the infinity sign, or an eight on its side, filled in (created by a dark portion pushing up into the light strip). On the side of each wing are two oval spots; when the wings are folded these look almost like hinges. The moth also has traces of yellow/orange around its "headdress." It may also belong to the tribe
Noctuini, subtribe
Noctuina, but there are many tribes, so it could belong to one of a number of them (e.g.
Apameini,
Eriopygini, etc.) At any rate, I'm pretty sure it's a kind of Owlet Moth. If anybody can ID the species, I'd greatly appreciate it.
