In addition to the Common Hentz Jumper (Hentzia palmarum), our yard is also home to the White-jawed Jumping Spider (Hentzia mitrata). I found a male specimen, distinguished by his white feathery legs (resembling pipe-cleaners), white chelicerae, black claws, dorsal copper coloring, and the wide white band around his carapace and abdomen. A handsome fellow, indeed. When I found him, it was early evening and he was hunting.
