A Barn Spider (likely Neoscona crucifera) built her web on our front porch a week ago, such that I merely had to stand by the railing to get some photos. She caught a small insect, perhaps a moth, wrapped it up, and hauled it over to the center of the web to feed on it.
However, when she went round to the other side of the web, things got tricky, as I had to balance on the edge of the porch, hanging on to the railing with one hand and snapping photos with the other.
I wish the spider had turned out better in the photos, but I had to turn on the porch light in order to see what I was doing. Nevertheless, I'm happy with the silky, billowy web.
