The Showdown: Beetle Larva vs. Earthworm

I came across an intriguing battle in progress yesterday, between a beetle larva and an earthworm. The worm was trying to slide forward through the mud-trench, but the larva wasn't about to let him pass. Who won? If you read through to the bottom, you'll find out!

Here's the conflict as it unfolded:

Worm: "Move it, grub!"
Beetle larva: "Grub?! What are you, stupid or something? I'm not a cicada, I'm a beetle. You're more of a grub than I am! See? I got legs! Show me yours!"

Worm: "Um, well, I don't actually have legs, but--"
Beetle larva: "Ha! Idiot."

Worm: "Oh yeah? Take that! How do you like me now?"
Beetle larva: *recoiling* "Hey, get off of me, man!"

Beetle larva: "See these mandibles? I'll rip your head off! Wait--which end is your head?"
Worm: "Who's the idiot now, grub?"

Worm: Hmm. Maybe if I go around here...
Beetle larva: "Nice try. I ain't budgin.'"

Worm: *sigh*

Beetle larva: "I'm waitin', worm. Gonna make a move? I dare ya."

Beetle larva: "Hahaha! You'd better run!"
Worm: "I'm not retreating. This is part of my master plan!"
Beetle larva: "Right. Sure."
