Peppered Jumper Hunting on Sunflower

Recently I was able to spend some more time with our female Peppered Jumper (Pelegrina galathea) as she was hunting on a sunflower. It was an excellent spot, really, because so many insects are attracted by sunflowers. However, she had a tough time catching anything. She took several unsuccessful stabs at passing ants, and even when she hid behind the petals to ambush leafhoppers, the latter sensed her every move. She also tried to stalk an insect up the stem of the flower, but failed. I stayed as long as I could, cheering her on, but the heat eventually got to me. Hopefully she found at a meal at last!
